Leon Gallery is an impressive auction house that I have been to. It is a haven for artists and collectors alike if they want to auction their art pieces. It is located at the ground floor of Eurovilla 1, Rufino Corner Legaspi Streets, Legazpi Village, Makati City.

On entering the gallery, one is greeted by this colorful and beautiful painting by Jerry Elizalde Navarro. It is also on auction.

They also have paintings for auction made by the Masters among which are those painted by National Artist Fernando C. Amorsolo.

There is also this huge painting by National Artist Botong Francisco which was a gift to the first female Cabinet Member Estefania Aldaba-Lim, the Secretary of Social Services and Development (precursor to the Department of Social Welfare and Development). This is among my favorites as I like the color combinations and style of Botong Francisco.

Ornate Furnitures |
This one is the last sculptural work of Dr. Jose P. Rizal. As was said by Lisa Guerrero Nakpil in a Philippine Daily Inquirer article, “Josephine Sleeping” is perhaps the pinnacle of Rizal’s last four years in exile in Dapitan where “he would allow himself to dream—a dream of love with an Irish orphan girl with blue eyes.” This was auctioned for a record-breaking sum of over PhP31M.

I also like the edification of the heroism of Gat Andres Bonifacio and the Katipunan by this auction house. They have on exhibit the following memorabilia.
|
Guillermo E. Tolentino's bust of Andres Bonifacio from the collection of Prof. Ambeth Ocampo and paintings by Juan Luna. |
|
The Last Seal of the Katipunan which is the surviving twin of the seal used by Bonifacio in his last days. |
Visiting the Leon Gallery and seeing the artworks there satiate the aesthete eyes. Beyond auction, there is a piece of history being preserved which can be enjoyed by future generations.
