Paco Park is a popular recreational garden among the people of Manila and a choice of couples for wedding venue especially the St. Pancratius Chapel. It was once the Manila's municipal cemetery built by the Dominicans during the Spanish colonial period.
While the structures are old dating back to Spanish colonial period, the park is well maintained. Even if it is a former cemetery, it is a nice place for relaxation.
What makes the park unique is its circular form. It was also designed by Ildefonso P. Santos, Jr., a notable landscape architect and a National Artist of the Philippines.

The park is historically significant because our national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal was interred there after his execution at Bagumbayan (now Luneta). Of course, it was kept secret to his family, but her sister Narcisa persisted in finding it. After two days, she was able to find a grave with new burial, and after ascertaining that it was his brother who was buried there, she marked it with Dr. Jose P. Rizal's reversed initial RPJ. This was to make it not obvious for the Spanish authorities to know that they found Dr. Rizal's grave.

The Paco Park is nicely designed. Its greeneries afford its visitors with a relaxing ambiance amidst Manila's concrete jungle.
