EDSA Shrine is a famous landmark in Metro Manila. It is nestled at the intersection of EDSA and Ortigas Avenue in Quezon City. It commemorates the EDSA People Power Revolution which took place from February 23 to 25, 1986.
While it is a religious site connected to the history of our nation, the ambiance inside the shrine is less political. It is a solemn place for prayer and reflection amidst the busy area surrounding it.
Francisco Mañosa was the architect of the shrine with preparatory works undertaken by Leandro Locsin and William Coscolluela. The church was consecrated on December 15, 1989 with the then Fr. Socrates Villegas installed as first rector.

Amidst the busy life in the metropolis, we can find solace in this historical and peaceful church. His Eminence Jaime Cardinal L. Sin was never wrong in putting the EDSA Shrine in that location.
