Casa de Segunda: Vestige of Heroic Romance

Among the tourist attractions in the Philippines are the colonial houses spread throughout the archipelago. Some of these colonial houses have historical significance such as the Casa de Segunda in Lipa City, Batangas.

The house aside from it being a "bahay na bato" showcasing the marvels of colonial architecture in the Philippines, it was the residence of Segunda Katigbak, the first love of our national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal.

When you visit this house, you'll see centuries old furnitures, santos, and discover more of history and the progeny of Luz-Katigbak Family.

Facade of Casa de Segunda

Me with the portrait of Segunda Katigbak.

The spacious and well ventilated sala.

A painting of Lipa Cathedral.

A statue of scourged Jesus being carried in a Holy Week procession.

A century old piano.

A princely bed common during the colonial times.

A nice view of the tree in the courtyard.

A century old sungka.

A lovely fountain in the courtyard.

An angel carrying ornamental plant.

Casa de Segunda is truly worth visiting to travel back in time and know more about our rich history.
